In a shocking event, Asim Jamil, the son of renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, tragically ended his own life by shooting himself in the chest at his home in Tulamba, Punjab, as reported by the police.
Multan's Regional Police Officer (RPO), Captain (retd) Sohail Chaudhry, revealed, "The district police officer (DPO) has reviewed CCTV footage, which shows Asim Jamil taking his own life."
According to RPO Chaudhry, Asim used a 30-bore pistol to end his life. He had been battling psychiatric issues for several years and was under medication. The police officer mentioned that Asim had asked his domestic helper, Imran, to fetch the pistol.
Detailing the tragic incident, the police officer explained that as Asim aimed the gun at his chest, the domestic helper tried to dissuade him. RPO Chaudhry added, "He had married a girl of his choice, but they later divorced."

Previously, the renowned religious scholar had Tweeted saying, "My son Asim Jamil passed away in Tulamba [Khanewal, Punjab] today."

Chaudhry further commented, "Asim died of a bullet wound." In response to a query, he mentioned that the police had arrived at the scene and were gathering information about the incident. Asim had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest.
Meanwhile, Punjab's Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has requested a comprehensive report from the Multan RPO regarding this matter. A Punjab police spokesperson explained that the IG had instructed them to determine the cause of Asim's death based on the evidence and forensic report. The spokesperson added that the Khanewal District Police Officer (DPO) and other senior officials had reached the scene and collected evidence.
